During the year IDSME does several Portable Track runs, at summer fetes and other events at schools, Churches and events.

These take a lot of effort and unfortunately we are unable to attend any more during the year, a small dedicated band of IDSME members turn out in all weathers to take IDSME on the road to such events. Track Lengths vary, as we have several portable tracks that can be bolted together to make a decent run.

We operate a single line with two station/terminus roads, so while one train is loading up passengers and taking on coal/water for the engines, the other train is out on the run. Trains normally do two out and back trips per passenger journey, stopping on or around the points on the return of the first trip.

The actual trains themselves are normally made up of two standard IDSME 6ft Trolleys, top and tailed by locomotives, the driver of the trailing loco acts as guard.
