IDSME Clubhouse
|
The IDSME Clubhouse is the oldest structure on our site, dating from 1954. It
houses the main meeting room of the society, a kitchen, a toilet and a second
room that houses Bidsmere West, the permanent OO layout of the
model railway section of the society.

When first built it consisted of just the main meeting room and was surrounded
by trees and open fields. Over the years a wooden kitchen annexe was added to
the front and a workshop was built alongside.
In 1984 an arson attack destroyed the wooden annexe and caused damage to the
rest of the building. This prompted a rebuilding programme which saw a new roof
over the main room, a permanent extension at the front, housing a toilet and
kitchen, and the conversion of the side workshop into a new model railway room.
